The Neuromuscular Diseases Unit at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau is a multidisciplinary unit with extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of all types of neuromuscular diseases. It is a team in which clinical and research activities, both clinical and basic, are perfectly aligned and interrelated. The resolution of clinical problems involves laboratory workers, and basic research is approached from a clinical perspective.

The Unit is therefore comprised of neurologists with expertise in neuromuscular diseases and extensive experience in electromyography, as well as training and interest in basic research; basic researchers with interest and experience in translational research projects; nurses with expertise in project coordination, clinical studies, and databases; and laboratory technicians with expertise in basic and translational research and in the organization and management of sample banks.
