Janina Turon i Sans has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a specialist in Clinical Neurophysiology (Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge). She is a physician attached to the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit (ENM) of the Neurology Service of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSCSP) in Barcelona. Her care work focuses on electromyography of neuromuscular diseases as well as nerve trauma and she is part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical Unit of Motor Neuron Diseases.
In recent years her research work has focused on neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Research projects on cognitive impairment in ALS at the ALS Functional Unit and the Dementia Functional Unit of the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge, Mútua Madrileña scholarship (2013-2015) and stay at the California Pacific Medical Center- The Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center, 2013.
