Sonia Segovia Simon graduated in Nursing Degree at the “Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona” in 1997. Master in “Management and methodology of the quality of care” Avedis Donavedian Institute, Autonomous University of Barcelona (2016).

Sonia has developed her professional experience in the surgical area in different national and European hospitals: NHS Derriford Hospital, Plymouth (UK), Hospital Vall d’Hebron, Vic Hospital Consortium, Quiron Bilbao. During this period she completed her training with two postgraduate courses:  “Anesthesia, resuscitation and pain therapy” (UVic), and “Action in emergency and clinical urgency” (International University of Catalonia).
In 2011s she began her career in Dra. Illa’s group as a manager and curator of the Spanish Registry of Neuromuscular diseases, which is a multicenter project led by Dr.  Illa, with the participation of different hospitals across the country. Her roles in this project are:

  • Design and analysis of registries.
  • Coordinate and link all the research groups involved.
  • Training of participants in data collection.
  • Data management: Application of methodology to ensure the optimal conservation of the information and its re-utilization. Ensure the reliability and quality of the data contained in the registries.

She is currently employed by CIBERER (Research Network in Rare Diseases) to assist in the implementation of new registries of Rare diseases.
